Easy Cocktail Recipes for Valentine's Day

Dec 08, 2023

Nothing is better than easy cocktail recipes for Valentine’s Day or any day in general.

Valentine’s Day is just one of those holidays that you make it what you want it to be.

In a relationship? Drinks, dinner, and some lovey dovey time.

Single? Night out on the town grabbing drinks (you’re sure to get a couple of free drinks😉).

It’s everyone’s day and you celebrate it the way you want.

All I’m saying is that a cocktail, especially a pink one, is always a good idea on Valentine’s Day.

Now, as a personal trainer and nutritionist, I “shouldn’t” be telling you to have a cocktail. However, I believe alcohol is fine in moderation. I personally avoid drinking during the week. Though I do love a good cocktail over the weekend. The key is to not have too much and to monitor the ingredients in it. Because we are here for a good time AND a long time. This is where easy cocktail recipes come in handy.

*Approximate calories of the cocktails below are based on the exact amount of ingredients it says. The calories will vary if you put more or less of the ingredients in.

Now that we got both disclaimers out of the way let’s get into it.

Cranberry & Vodka Cocktail

Ah, the classic & one of the easiest cocktail recipes to make.

Only 2 ingredients and maybe a lime slice if you want to get fancy.

Fun Fact: it is also known as the Cape Cod Cocktail.

I really had no idea it was called that. Definitely going to stick to ordering it as a cranberry and vodka, though.

Now, apparently, the type of vodka you use matters. They all taste the same to me, but the word on the street is that Tito’s is the best vodka. But, you can use any vodka you want. For this recipe, we will use Tito’s.

I love this cocktail because it doesn’t leave you feeling icky and unhealthy after drinking it. Of course, if you have one too many it can lead to feeling like that. But when drinking the right amount of them, it won’t make you feel absolutely shitty.

Cranberry & Vodka Recipe:

Serving size: 1

Ingredients:

→ 1 ½ oz of Tito’s Vodka (or your vodka of choice)

→ 4 oz of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice (or cranberry juice of choice)

→ Lime slice

Instructions:

→ In a cocktail shaker, add ice, Tito’s Vodka, and cranberry juice.

→ Shake well and pour into glass

→ Garnish with lime slice

Approximate calories: 130

*You don’t actually need a shaker. You can just pour both into a glass over ice and mix it with a straw, spoon, or your finger (hey, I don’t judge).

Is cranberry and vodka good for you?

I’m not going to say it’s good for you. However, vodka is low calorie compared to other alcohol and cranberry juice (especially 100% cranberry juice) has some good benefits. Cranberry juice contains probiotics, helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, acts as an anti-inflammatory, and can help improve our skin (you know we love a good skin drink!).

So, is it healthy for you? Ehhh I can’t say either way.

I think it is one of the better alcoholic beverage choices you can make as it is only about 130 calories, which is the lowest on the list of recipes in this post.

Easy cocktail recipes always have to be good for you, right?😂

What is the healthiest drink to mix with vodka?

Club soda. It is 0 calories and will be the lowest calorie option to mix with vodka.

It will most likely taste really bad, because it is basically just carbonated water. I would definitely give it a splash of juice, whether it be cranberry or pineapple or something else. It will definitely go down easier.

Or you can drink it straight, with no mixer. Good luck with that though 😂 and make sure you have a designated driver if you are out at a bar or someone’s house!

What kind of person drinks vodka?

Life of the party. Especially if you’re drinking it straight. That is rough and if you’re doing that, you’re definitely here to have a good time. No doubt about that.

Sex on the Beach Cocktail

This just sounds like a damn good drink.

This cocktail was first made by Ted Pizio. He made it to highlight the deliciousness of peach schnapps and he called it Sex on the Beach because he thought sex and the beach were the two best things about spring break.

Strange reasoning but I am not going to question it because he’s probably right and this cocktail is absolutely delicious.

Sex on the Beach Recipe:

Ingredients:

→ 1 ½ oz of vodka

→ 1 ½ oz of peach schnapps

→ 2 oz of orange juice

→ 2 oz of cranberry juice

→ Orange slice

How much sugar is in a Sex on the Beach cocktail?

17 grams of sugar. This depends on the amount of ingredients used, but one serving of a Sex on the Beach cocktail has about 17 grams of sugar.

What kind of alcohol is peach schnapps?

Peach schnapps is a peach flavored schnapps that is made from fermented fruit juice and a base liquor. It is very similar to a lightly flavored vodka and is sometimes referred to as a fruit brandy.

Barbie Pink Cocktail

Ugh, Barbie pink, you just can’t go wrong. Sipping that with your hair in a towel, your robe on, and your favorite show playing. That is just a recipe for a great night.

This one calls for a hefty shot of pink lemonade. One word for that: refreshing.

This is a relatively low-calorie drink and is also a refreshing drink for the summertime.

Love Potion Vodka Cocktail

This cocktail just screams love is in the air.

The peach schnapps and vodka are a great mix with the ruby red grapefruit juice.

We are cooking up some love with this one.

Whether it be with your significant other or your dog, love is everywhere. Why not drink some too?

How do you get sugar to stay on a glass?

To get sugar to stay on a glass, you need a liquid.

Sugar on the rim of the glass is a great way to make your cocktail that much fancier, even if you are just sitting home binging your favorite show.

What liquid do you use for a sugar rim?

The type of drink you are making, should determine what kind of liquid you are using.

If you are looking for a flavorless liquid to use, water will work.

For a sweeter taste, you can use chocolate syrup, simple syrup, honey, caramel, or agave.

If you are looking for a citrusy taste, you can use lime juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, or orange juice.

What kind of sugar do you use to rim glasses?

Common granulated sugar works great for the rim of cocktail glasses. Other sugars like brown sugar can dissolve too quickly when paired with the liquid.

Instead of sugar, you can put salt, cocoa nibs, sprinkles (if you are getting real fancy), or basically anything that will stick to the liquid that you want.

Margaritas are usually rimmed with salt so that it emphasizes the sweet and sour flavors of the cocktail.

If you are making a chocolate martini, it would be good to put a rim of chocolate syrup. You could also dip it in cocoa nibs and sprinkles as well.

Conclusion:

It is always fun experimenting with new cocktails, especially easy cocktail recipes. Crazy how many are out there.

Remember, it is okay to let yourself have an alcoholic beverage every once in a while. Whether it’s a glass of wine, a can of beer, or a fancy cocktail, it’s okay in moderation.

I hope this Valentine’s Day treats you well, however you are spending it.
